Letters from the Kids

Shayna Age 12

Many years ago my great-great grandpa took my grandma fishing many times. While they sat on the bank, they talked of many things. My grandma said her fishing memories are some of the best ones she has. So I want to make fishin' memories with my grandpa.

In 1995, when I was 7 years old, I was diagnosed with cancer. I didn't know what was going to happen to me for sure so I asked my grandpa to take me fishing just one time so we could make some memories. And he did. I asked God to let me catch some fish. And he did. I caught six on them.

We made some good memories that day. Some day, I want to be able to tell my kids and grandkids about my fishing memories. And my grandpa will have his memories with me, too.

Fishing is life for me.  The thrill of "catching the Big One" is the best feeling in the world to me and to most people.

The Big One is everybody's dream. The big catch some may call it or maybe the Monster from the Deep. It's the same in every case, just a different name. Some dreams come true and some don't.
